JOHNNY HAMM
HAMM, Johnny, age 68, of Luverne, Alabama, died Friday, February 6, 2009. Visitation was held Sunday, February 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Cope Funeral Home in Evergreen, Ala. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, at New Home Baptist Church in McKenzie, Ala. Interment followed at New Home Cemetery with Cope Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Hamm was born January 16, 1941, in Union Springs, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Sanford Hamm; parents, Aubrey and Pauline Hamm; sister, Louise Cunningham; and two brothers, William Hamm and Aubrey Hamm, Jr.
Mr. Hamm is survived by one son, Johnny Hamm, Jr., (Deanna), Andalusia, Ala.; daughters, Patricia Cross (James), Red Level, Ala.; and Lisa Moore (Steve), Luverne, Ala.; brother, Milton Hamm, Sr., Opelika, Ala.; sister, Mary Crooks, Pine Mountain, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
ERNEST RAY BURNSIDE
Mr. Ernest Ray Burnside of Dozier died Friday, February 6, 2009, in an Opp nursing facility. Graveside services with military honors were held Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Dozier Cemetery with the Reverends Jerry Hogwood and Oris Sanders officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Burnside, born May 7, 1919, in Kincheloe, West Virginia, was the son of the late Ernest Robert Burnside and Dessie Chandler Burnside. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Rawls Burnside.
Retired from the U. S. Air Force and Civil Service, he was a member of Dozier Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Mary Robbins Burnside, half-sister Joan B. Lough and half-brother Robert Gene Burnside both of Jane Lew, West Virginia, two step-daughters Rosemary (John Allen) Gantt of Andalusia and Melissa Stephens of Lisle, Illinois, seven step-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Dozier Baptist Church Building Fund, Dozier, Alabama.
JEANETTE
THAGARD CARNES
CARNES, Mrs. Jeanette Thagard, 83, a resident of Glenwood and formerly of Brantley, died Monday, February 9, 2009. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Weeks and Rev. Woody Clark officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Ida Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Carnes was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Carnes; parents, Henry and Lena Free Thagard; and two nephews, Kennie Thagard and Donnie Thagard. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Steve Hughes of Glenwood; two grandsons, Danny (Selena) Hughes of Glenwood and Jason (Angela) Hughes of Calera; and three great- grandchildren, Cole, Meagan and Caitlin Hughes.
Active pallbearers were Danny Hughes, Jason Hughes, Donnie Bodiford, Lynn Johnson and Denny Stallings.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Mt. Ida Cemetery Fund % Brantley Bank and Trust, Brantley, AL 36009.

AUSBON
Ausbon, Robert E., 61, died Monday, February 9, 2009. Mr. Ausbon was born in Troy, AL and was a resident of Montgomery, AL for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Ausbon of Brundidge, AL. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nita Ausbon; daughter, Blair of Birmingham, AL; son, Brooks of Montgomery, AL; parents, Edward and Irene Fowler of Luverne, AL, and brother, Keith (Selena) Fowler of Luverne, AL.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 at Leak-Memory Chapel. Pallbearers are Keith Edward Fowler, Ron Fleming, Robert Martin, David Roll, Brooks Carothers and Charlie Stewart.

SYLVIA L. POUNCEY
POUNCEY, Mrs. Sylvia L., 65, a resident of LaPine, died February 10, 2009. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. from Danielville Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Leverette officiating and Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville directing. Interment will follow in Cool Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Pouncey will lie in repose thirty minutes prior to services.
Survivors include her husband, Anderson Pouncey, LaPine; daughters Pam Whittington, LaPine and Penni Pouncey Parker, Wetumpka; son, Dwayne Whittaker, Prattville; brothers, Robert Sheppard, Troy and Dwight Lee, Macon, Ga.; and 6 grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Danielville Baptist Church.
