The Greenville High School band received a donation from Alabama power on Jan. 15. Band director Lee Herring expressed gratitude to utility provider for their community support.

“We are seeking donors and support specifically for band uniforms, and it would be impossible to raise these funds without the support of companies like Alabama Power”, Herring said.

Butler County Schools Superintendent Joe Eiland expressed his love for band programs and his appreciation to Alabama Power for seeking out ways that they can assist.

“Band is one of the things I love and with funds being so low and uniforms being so expensive, my first thought was that this is where this money needs to go”, Eiland said. “Alabama Power has been a great help, not only to Greenville High School but to the entire system when grant money is available”.

Alabama Power Community Relations Manager Mary Katherine Andrews conveyed her joy in being able to help when needs arise.

“When the funds became available at the end of last year, Mr. Eiland did not skip a beat when I asked him how the funds could be used”, Andrews said. “I am really happy to help with arts programs, athletics as well and am glad to help our communities.”
