Board grants parole request for Mallory, Rudolph

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles recently granted the parole petitions of two inmates serving time for Butler County convictions..

On Jan. 9, the board voted to deny parole to Matthew Sergest Mallory, 36. He is currently housed in the Mobile Community Work Center, serving two 10-year terms for second-degree receiving stolen property and possessing/receiving controlled substances handed down in November 2023.

Mallory was convicted on one count of third-degree burglary, one count of theft of property, third degree and possessing/receiving a controlled substance in November 2022. He served almost a year for the convictions and prior to that, Mallory served two years for theft- and drug-related charges in 2018, one year for three counts of third-degree burglary in 2015, one year and eight months in 2014 for receiving stolen property, second degree and one year plus three months two counts of the same charges from 2012 convictions.

The board granted parole to Marvin Rudolph on Jan. 9. Currently housed in the Elba Work Release Center and has served 10 years of a 35-year sentence for distributing a controlled substance, a conviction handed down in January 2015.

The board heard 22 parole petitions, granting five and denying 17. The board also held 10 pardon hearings, granting six and denying four.
