Longtime owner and editor of the Greenville Advocate, Glenn Stanley, began the tradition of featuring pictures of his grandchildren seventy six years ago to wish readers a happy new year filled with health, happiness and prosperity. Continuing the tradition, this year’s New Year baby is his great-great-granddaughter, Karter Phoenix Rusch.

Karter is the daughter of Katie Nearing Till and Kaj Rusch and granddaughter of Virginia Plummer Nearing. Till is on staff with the advocate, keeping the Greenville at 603 East Commerce Street running smoothly as Accounts Receivable Manager.
