Peggy Smith Wood, 72 years old of Honoraville, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 2.
A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, Jan. 5, beginning at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home with Brother Ray Cotton and Brother Paul Ferrell officiating. The family received friends for visitation beginning at 2 p.m. until service time.
Peggy was a prestigious seamstress and was very passionate about her sewing, which included many beautiful, smocked pieces for her family and friends. She loved gardening, baking and spending time with her family, including her beloved church family at Rock Hill Baptist Church, which she was a devoted member of up until her death.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, James Milton Smith, Sr. and Kathryn Frances Walker Smith; brother James Milton Smith, Jr.; sister Frances Elaine Smith Rodgers; infant brother; infant great grandchild; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hill H. Wood, Sr. and Ola Mae B. Wood; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Sara Wood and brother-in-law, Douglas Wood.
She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Hill Henderson Wood, Jr. of Honoraville; daughter, Amanda Rinehart (Steve) of Honoraville; bonus daughters, Renee Vickers (Wayne) of Dothan, and Janet Leach (Mark)of Fountain, Florida; grandchildren, Andrea Mitchell (Bryant)and Evan Dearden of Honoraville; bonus-grandchildren, Ashley Wood Schuette (Kevin) of Rockport, New York, Stephanie Wood (Brandon Starling) of Honoraville, Samantha Harris (Clay Hill) of Dothan, Starr Vickers of Dothan, Justin Harris of Fountain, Florida, Alisia Vickers Walker (Bo) of Rehobeth, Josh Vickers of Buffalo, New York, Amy Jones (Blake) of Selma, Hannah Rinehart (Adam Crovato) of Selma, Kaleb Rinehart (Shelby) of Honoraville, Anna Grace Rinehart (Jacob Saupe) of Glenwood; 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Dianne Smith Wilson (Don) of Wetumpka and Patricia Smith Luckie (Milton) of Greenville; brother-in-law’s, Kenneth Rodgers of Atmore and Ronald Wood of Luverne; sister-in-law’s, Ellen Smith Garrett (David) of Friendship and Brenda Wood of Bristol, Tennessee along with many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Midway-Damascus Volunteer Fire Department and Rock Hill Baptist Church.
