Middleton, beloved Greenville leader, dies Saturday

In an early-Monday media release, the Butler County Historical & Genealogical Society announced the Saturday death of society President Barbara Perdue Middleton.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our President, Barbara Perdue Middleton,” the BCHGS Executive Board announced.
Middleton died peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 21 after a short illness. She leaves a long legacy of volunteer service to the Butler County Historical & Genealogical Society, the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Greenville, the Greenville Camellia Society, the Spring Creek Baptist Church, the Steiner Store Homemakers Club and the community at large.
“Barbara’s kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, and she was a friend to longtime residents and newcomers alike,” board members said. “We deeply mourn her loss and offer her family heartfelt condolences.”
