On Dec. 4, community members gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Cabrera’s Taekwondo Academy, marking the official launch of a new martial arts training center in Greenville.
Owner and lead instructor Ashton Cabrera, who was the lead instructor at Docarmo’s Taekwondo before its sudden closure in September, expressed his gratitude for the community’s support.
“It has really been a blessing to have so much support along the way,” Cabrera said. “From the minute I announced I was opening the doors, there has been nothing but positive feedback and people ready to back me up along the way.”
Cabrera explained that he felt compelled to ensure former students from Docarmo’s could continue their training while providing a physical outlet for students not interested in traditional sports.
“This first week of classes has been so amazing,” he added. “I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.”
Located at 802 North Conecuh Street, the academy offers private and group lessons for individuals aged 5 and up and is currently accepting new students.
