The grand finale of the second annual Doe Rodeo will take place on Dec. 15 at Cornwallis 1828, with a full day of events and activities planned for hunters and the community. Hosted by Cornwallis 1828, DoeNation Outdoors and the Sportsman Channel, this year’s event also welcomes Shama’s Place to the festivities.

“Our goal this year is to get 100 does,” said Demp Bell, owner of Cornwallis 1828. “All the hunters have to do is get it to us. We handle all of the processing and packaging and then we’ll distribute it to food pantries.”

The event, free to hunters, aims to donate as much fresh deer meat as possible to local food banks in the Alabama Black Belt region. Hunters will receive a red ticket for each doe donated, increasing their chances to win prizes at the awards ceremony at 1 p.m. Community members are also encouraged to attend, with activities, food vendors and a special worship service at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at noon.

“Since this year’s rodeo falls on a Sunday, we’ll have a short devotional available for anyone that wants to attend,” Bell added.

Hunters can drop off their harvests at Cornwallis 1828 daily from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 17204 State Highway 21, Braggs, AL. All attendees, whether hunters or visitors, will receive tickets for opportunities to win prizes during the awards ceremony. Organizers emphasize the importance of following Alabama’s deer season laws, as hunters are allowed to harvest and donate does within the legal limits.
