Greenville’s annual Christmas Parade is set to return Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Greenville. This year’s theme, “Miracle on Main,” promises to capture the holiday magic and bring the community together for a night of celebration.
“The Christmas Parade is a cherished tradition that unites our community in the spirit of joy and service,” said Chamber of Commerce Director Tracey Salter. “This year’s theme, ‘Miracle on Main St.,’ captures the magic and wonder of the Christmas season here in Greenville. We look forward to seeing families and friends come together to celebrate and support one another.”
Festivities will begin in Confederate Park at 5 p.m., featuring photos with Santa, Christmas music, a balloon artist and concessions. The City’s official Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. followed by the parade at 6:30 p.m..
The Greenville Lions Club will run the concession tent, serving hot dogs, hot chocolate, coffee, funnel cakes and more.
“Lions Club has hosted the concession tent for three years now, and it’s always a big hit during the festivities and parade,” Salter said.
For safety, the police department will close Commerce Street from the Train Depot to the Courthouse starting at 4:30 p.m.
“The parade lineup begins at 5 p.m.,” Salter noted. “Due to the large number of entries and to ensure everyone’s safety, Commerce Street will reopen only after the parade and park festivities end.”
Mayor Dexter McLendon emphasized the event’s importance to Greenville’s community spirit.
“It’s the second Tuesday in December – everyone has gotten back in the swing of things after the Thanksgiving holiday and it’s an opportunity to enjoy the official lighting of the tree in the park, visit with Santa, view the beautiful Christmas lights and decorations and enjoy the beautiful parade lineup,” McLendon said.
