The Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama (RMCCA) in Greenville has issued a termination notice to United Healthcare, a Minnesota-based insurance company. The termination is set to take effect on July 31, 2025, and would impact all United Healthcare insurance products, including its Medicare Advantage plans.
If negotiations between RMCCA and United Healthcare do not result in suitable terms before the deadline, all RMCCA entities — including doctor’s offices, the hospital, emergency room and outpatient services — will become out-of-network for United Healthcare members. This could significantly affect healthcare access and costs for local residents.
United Healthcare currently holds the highest Medicare Advantage enrollment among plans operating in Butler County and is also utilized by at least one major local employer. The hospital urges residents to stay informed about the situation.
