FDA junior varsity opens tournament with loss

The Fort Dale Academy JV Eagles opened the Crenshaw Christian Academy tournament with their first loss of the season.
The Eagles lost to Macon East in Luverne to even their record at 1-1.
Macon East jumped on the board first with a run-producing double in the top of the first inning.
Ft. Dale followed with a two-run Double by Charlie Scofield and a one-run single by Cody Tesmer in the bottom half of the first.
Pitcher Connally Walters set the Macon East team down 1-2-3 in the second inning before allowing a one-run single and a sacrifice fly in the third to even the score at 3-3.
Skylar McKeown came in to relieve with two outs and finished the game for Fort Dale.
Macon East managed another run on an error in the top of the fourth inning.
Fort Dale mounted a furious comeback in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases with two outs.
David Miller fought his way to a 3-2 count before flying out to short centerfield to end the game.
Brandon Mathews, Connally Walters and Cody Tesmer all had two in three at bats with Charlie Scofield contributing his two-run double.
The Eagles will play again Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the same tournament.
