The Lions Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year, Radio Day, is set for Oct. 30, continuing a tradition that has spanned more than four decades. Partnering with WQZX, Q94 FM, the event allows local businesses to purchase live advertisements on the station, beginning at 8 a.m. Lions Club members will promote the ads throughout the day, with all proceeds going toward the club’s charitable projects.
“This is our largest fundraiser and it’s our 44th year doing this,” said Ricky Cargile, Lions Club Secretary/Treasurer. “All the funds we raise will go back into projects that we support.”
Listeners can also expect trivia questions throughout the day with prizes donated by local businesses. Smoked Boston Butts are available for purchase in advance from any Lions Club member for the cost of $35 and will be available for pickup in the park across from the station from 11 a.m until 2 p.m.
“Throughout the day, we’ll also be having members of local businesses and community leaders as special guest speakers,” Cargile added. “We encourage everybody to tune in to Q94 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 30.”
