The Georgiana City Fest returns for its third year at Hank Williams Park Saturday, Oct. 5, The free event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., began as a way to raise money for city Christmas decorations, and will feature arts and crafts, food and activities for children of all ages.
“This is something the mayor and all of us wanted to do,” said Kenneth Blackburn, supervisor for the city’s water department. “We have a small crew, so we just pull together to make things happen.”
Blackburn noted that hosting the festival under the park’s pavilion ensures the event is rain or shine. Michelle Black, owner of A Color Affair and part of the event’s unofficial committee, will have a booth at the festival.
“It’s just a bunch of arts and crafts and food,” Black said. “A free community event to give everyone something to do.”
In addition to local vendors selling items such as tumblers, t-shirts, Christmas decor and custom knives, the event will also include a car show, bounce houses and games. The local Veterans Association (VA) will offer BBQ plates and the Downtown Georgiana Group will sell hamburgers and hot dogs.
