An Editorial Opinion of The Greenville Advocate
Each Monday night Tayla and Pearl’s Attic Finds auctions selected items to online bidders. Vendors renting booths in the store have the chance to select one item for sale in the auction and donated items are added to bring interest and additional value.
Online auctions foster purchasing opportunities from the comfort of a buyer’s home, but the Greenville store’s weekly sale comes with the added bonus of supporting the pet rescue for which the store is named.
Owners Kimmie and Claude Plant opened the part antique, part thrift shop to support their rescue efforts aimed at giving homes to unwanted cats in the Greenville area. The sale of donated items auctioned each Monday goes directly to operating expenses of the rescue.
During the Aug.19 action, Kimmie Plant described a litter of kittens she is currently bottle feeding and displayed pictures of one particularly cute kitten. Delighted shoppers were reminded that while they satisfied their shopping needs, they also helped the kittens to eventually find a loving forever home.
Fun and creative opportunities to support a good cause are always in season. We encourage our readers to donate gently used, resalable items to this or a similar cause as just one of the many ways to make a difference in the Greenville community.
