Patients are always at the forefront of those who work in healthcare and Nezzie Boggan could not agree more. 

“I loved to work with my patients,” said Boggan, who retired after 37 years with Crowne Health Care of Greenville. 

Boggan, when asked what her favorite thing about her job as a certified nurse’s aide was, did not hesitate to say the patients she cared for were ranked No. 1. Her love for her patients is evident in her post-retirement plans. 

Even after spending almost four decades working with residents at Crowne Health Care of Greenville, Boggan isn’t ready to shy away from being a caregiver. 

“I may get into sitting later,” she said, which would provide in-home care to those who need assistance, such as the elderly and infirmed. 

But Boggan isn’t planning on going straight into a second career without enjoying retirement for a bit. 

She wants to use her extra time to work in her yard, especially with her flowers, and get a garden going soon. Boggan also plans to continue cooking – one of her favorite pastimes – and serving in her church. 

The mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who also selflessly served as a foster parent for 19 years, also plans to spend more time with family, including the latest addition to her brood, a four-month-old great-grandson she plans to travel to Georgia to see very soon.
