Kate Shannon Stabler Linden, a resident of Selma died Tuesday, July 23 at Aspire Physical Recovery Center of West Alabama at the age of 87. She was born March 17, 1937 in Greenville.

Ms. Linden graduated from Greenville High School in 1955, then attended Finch College in New York City, and later graduated from The University of Alabama with a B.S. in Education. She was a long-time antique silver dealer, world traveler and dog trainer. Ms. Linden and her therapy dogs, Little Bear and Miss Priss, volunteered at children’s hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other organizations throughout Alabama and Georgia. She also volunteered at the COA Food Pantry at the Miller Childers Center, served on the Sturdivant Hall board, was an active member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames, and enjoyed showing her home in the historic Selma Pilgrimage numerous times.

Ms. Linden is preceded in death by parents Dr. Ernest Vernon Stabler, Sr. and Annie Hunter Acker Stabler; brothers Dr. Paul Acker Stabler and Dr. E. Vernon Stabler, Jr. and long and trusted friend Larry McCarthy. She is survived by 3 children — daughter Shannon Hunter Coleman Gray (Alan) of Tuscaloosa, son Wade Hampton Coleman IV (Tara) of Aurora, Colorado and son Dr. Paul Stabler Linden (Amy) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren — Seaborn Gray (Angela), Stabler Gray (Haley), Dr. Hampton Gray (Marsha), Kate Strohmeyer (Scott), Cammie Bentley (Brett), Aaron Coleman (Jenna), Josh Coleman, Anna Mayo (Aaron), Sarah Jennings (Matt), Marcus Linden and Emma Linden; 26 great grandchildren; sister Annie Hunter Stabler Galloway (Bob) and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 29, 2024 at Dunklin Funeral Home in Greenville. Visitation will be from 12 — 12:30 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 12:30 p.m. and graveside immediately following at Magnolia Cemetery.
