A Greenville woman reported missing was located Friday afternoon.
Gail McKenney, 70, was reported missing by her family. A missing and endangered person alert issued Friday requesting the community’s assistance finding McKenney who was later located in a Montgomery hospital.
McKenney was last seen by her family May 28 at approximately 10 a.m. in the area of Waycross, Georgia and may be living with a condition which impairs her judgment. Butler County Sheriff Danny Bond said his office was notified Friday and immediately followed steps to get the word out.
“We talked with SBI (the State Bureau of Investigation), making sure we issued the Silver Alert,” Bond said. “About that time the family found out she was in the hospital in Montgomery and had been in a wreck.”
At the time she went missing, McKenney was believed to be traveling in an orange 2007 Honda Fit bearing Alabama tag No. 10A0HBH. According to Bond, the tag may have helped SBI agents locate her whereabouts.
“I think, but I’m not sure, that ALEA (the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency) went back and pulled records to see if that tag had been involved in a crash,” Bond said.
Details of the incident remain unclear. McKenney’s condition is also not known at this time.
“I don’t know what condition she is in,” Bond said. “But, I do know that she is in the hospital.”
