A three-vehicle accident on Alabama Highway 10, approximately two miles from the Highway 10/U.S. Highway 31 intersection, sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries. The incident, which occurred Friday around 8 a.m., involved an 18-wheeler, a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.
Sheriff Danny Bond reported that while there were no fatalities, the driver of the motorcycle was transported to Montgomery for medical treatment.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as emergency vehicles responded to the crash. Traffic was backed up for hours as crews worked to clear the area and tow the semi-truck from a nearby yard.
Marcus Anderson, a local resident, recounted the moment he returned home to find the semi-truck in his front yard.
“I had just dropped my daughter off at school and kind of panicked when I saw my driveway blocked by law enforcement. Then I noticed the truck down the hill in the yard,” Anderson said. “I pulled over and saw my wife kneeling on the ground next to someone. She was outside when the accident happened and she immediately ran to see if she could help. She talked to the guy that was on the motorcycle, tried to keep him calm and awake until the ambulance showed up.”
Sheriff Bond, who was among the first responders, stressed the importance of cautious driving.
“That accident could have been much worse,” Bond said. “As drivers, you have to pay attention to how others are driving as well as yourself.”
