On Mar. 2, the Beeland Park Community Center was transformed into a magical realm as the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greenville-Butler County Public Library and the Greenville Parks and Recreation Department hosted a fairytale party. The event, which drew families from across the region, aimed to bring storybook magic to life for children under 12 years old.
Megan Butts, attending with her one-year-old daughter, expressed her enthusiasm, saying she hopes this will become an annual event.
“This is awesome,” Butts said. “It’s such a great thing for the kids. I think it could be a great (yearly) thing. I think it would have a great turnout.”
Haley Prescott, who came from Prattville with her children, echoed the sentiment, calling the event “beautiful.”
“So far, we’ve taken pictures with all the princesses… we’re going to do makeup next,” she said.
The highlight of the party was the presence of famous storybook princesses, including Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog,” Cinderella, Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” and Aurora from “Sleeping Beauty.” Attendees were treated to a feast of mini sandwiches, fruit, cupcakes, cookies and punch. Additionally, arts and crafts activities were available, and each table had a goodie bag for the children.
Samantha Baugh chose to celebrate her daughter Ariel’s fifth birthday at the party.
“This is a wonderful thing. She’s loving it,” Baugh said. “If they do this again next year, we’ll be the first ones here.”
The event also featured princess lessons, makeup sessions and nail painting, culminating in a princess dance party where the children could join the princesses in a magical dance.
Chamber of Commerce Director Tracy Salter expressed her gratitude for the support the event garnered.
“We would just like to give a special thank you to our sponsors and to everyone that made this special day a success,” Salter said. “It was an absolutely magical day and we’re already preparing for next year’s event.”
