This past Monday was Presidents Day in our country. As with any nation, we have had a variety of types of individuals who have served as President. We usually think of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln especially on this day.
This is also an election year. Politics is going to start coming hot and heavy over the next few months.
However, we need to recognize a great ruler, a King who sits on a throne and rules His kingdom now. His name is Jesus.
This ruler has never been a politician. He was never wealthy. He did not ascend to His throne by might or strength. This King confirmed His kingship by giving Himself for the world and inviting all citizens of all the earth to have the opportunity to be a part of His kingdom.
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice. From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)
Christ is ruling over His kingdom. The Apostle Paul makes it clear that every knee shall bow to Him, and every tongue will confess Him (Philippians 2:9-11). He has ascended to rule over His Kingdom at the right hand of God through the path of the cross. He is going to be honored.
May we be those who bow and confess Him now. We must travel the path to the cross and meet this great King there.
