A late-Wednesday crash in Fort Deposit has claimed the life of a Georgiana woman.
Sophia A. Rogers, 22, was fatally injured Jan. 17 around 10:25 p.m. when the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu she was driving left the road and overturned. According to Sergeant Jeremy Burkett with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Rogers was not using a seat belt at the time.
“Rogers was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene,” Burkett said in a Thursday statement.
The single-vehicle crash occurred on Alabama Highway 185 one mile south of Fort Deposit near the 22-mile marker, in Lowndes County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
