Saturday shooting leaves one dead, another wounded, suspect at large

An afternoon shooting in Greenville Saturday ended with one person dead, another wounded and a suspect at large.
Police are searching for Edward “Trai” Payne III, 18, as a person of interest in the case. Payne, a black male, is thought to be driving a white Chevrolet Malibu type vehicle.
The Greenville Police Department received a call reporting shots fired just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Chief Justin Lovvorn confirmed officers responded to the area of North Conecuh Street, arriving on the scene at the intersection of Flowers and North Conecuh where they discovered one gunshot victim.
“Paramedics also arrived and pronounced the gunshot victim deceased at the scene,” Lovvorn said.
Officers located a second gunshot victim on Flowers Street, not far from where the first victim was found.
“A second gunshot victim from the same incident was located on Flowers Street not far from the first victim,” Lovvorn said. He was transported to a Montgomery hospital in stable condition.”
Police have not released the names of the victim’s pending notification of their families.
Law enforcement agencies in Butler and surrounding counties were alerted to be on the lookout (BOLO) for Payne, whose whereabouts are as yet unknown.
