Tiger teams take second losses of season

Both Greenville Tigers and McKenzie Tigers took their second losses at home on Friday night. Greenville faced Charles Henderson, and McKenzie rallied against Brantley High.
Greenville High School
The Greenville High School Tigers hosted the Charles Henderson High School Trojans Friday night for the Tiger’s first home game of the season. The Trojans, the 4 ranked team in the 5A division, were victorious with 39-6. Greenville, the 51 ranked team, took their second loss.
Greenville head coach Garrick Pimienta said the team will learn from their mistakes.
“It’s a disappointing loss. We have to learn to play to our standard as well as prepare at a level that will allow us to win,” Pimienta said. “We have to take this opportunity to learn and apply these lessons to the next game.”
Greenville’s only touchdown was a 14 yard pass by No. 7 quarterback B.J. Dickerson to No. 10 middle linebacker Kaldarus Williams.
The Greenville Tiger’s next game will be against the 8 ranked team Eufaula Tigers in Eufaula on Sept. 15.
McKenzie School
The Mckenzie Tiger’s, ranked 31 in the 1A division, hosted the 15 ranked Brantley Bulldogs at home Friday night. The Tiger’s were on the Bulldog’s heels losing the game 28-30.
The Tiger’s head coach Brian Bradford said it was an exciting game.
“It was a very exciting game,” Bradford said. “Brantley has a really good football team. I thought our guys played really hard and did everything we asked them to do. In the end, we came up a little short. But we are getting better each week and I’m very excited at the progress we’ve made so far and the potential of this team.”
McKenzie’s first two touchdown passes were made by No. 2 quarterback Jaylen Mcmillian to No. 12 Ziquayvion (Quay) Jackson for a nine yard and a 36 yard pass in the second quarter. In the third quarter McMillian completed a 26 yard touchdown pass to No. 1 Skylar Sanders. The last touchdown of the evening was a three yard pass from McMillian to No. 10 Clayton Martin, with a two point conversion completed by Sanders.
The Tigers will travel to face the 55 ranked Pleasant Home Eagles in Andalusia on Sept. 15.
