Both Greenville High School and Fort Dale Academy football teams took a loss last week. The Eagles played at home against Glenwood ending the night 35-7. The Tigers traveled to the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery to play Park Crossing who took the win 6-0 in overtime. 

Fort Dale coach Eric Folmar said this loss will not define the Eagle’s season. 

“Last night obviously didn’t go the way we would have liked,” Folmar said. “I have to do a better job of having our guys prepared to play and execute in big games against good teams. At the end of the day it will not define our season. We’ll learn from it and get better.”

Fort Dale’s only touchdown was gained with a 66-yard pass from No. 7 Parker McNeal to No. 21 Dain Winters with 10 minutes left in the game. 

For Greenville, there was upset with the Tiger’s fans over multiple incomplete touchdown calls made by the referees during the game against Park Crossing. Greenville’s head coach Garrick Pimienta does not attribute these calls to the Tiger’s loss and refuses to use them as an excuse. 

“Although we do not like the outcome of the game we will not use it as an excuse,” Pimienta said. “We had plenty of opportunities to win the game, however, penalties and self-inflicted wounds plagued us offensively. We look to improve on those mistakes and bring a better team home at Tiger stadium this Friday.”

Greenville High School plays their first home game against Charles Henderson, and Fort Dale Academy hosts Autauga on Sept. 8.
