Downtown Greenville came alive on Saturday night, as the Butler County Concerned Citizens produced, Showcasing Our Talent, “Get Your Act Together.” Local talent was put on display for a large crowd at the Ritz Theater where  guests were treated to a black carpet style event, complete with photography and V.I.P. treatment. 

Some attendees were even given limousine service, to add to the glitz and glamor of the night. The house band, led by Greenville’s own Alfred Payne, serenaded guests upon arrival. Concerned Citizens president, Robert Blankenship said, “This is our way to give back to the community. It’s hard to be what you can’t see.  I’m glad to see so many young people in attendance to witness this event and be inspired. We’re looking forward to a classy evening.”

Performers came from as far as Los Angeles, California to support the event. Renowned musician and Greenville native Vincent Womack entertained the crowd with a few soulful tunes and received a standing ovation. 

“It is good to be home,” he told the crowd of friends and family. Performers also came from Georgiana, Selma, Mobile, Dothan, and Montgomery.

Show producer Shannon Crum  organized the event, promotions and media, with the support of the Butler County Concerned Citizens. Brittany Blankenship served as hostess and kept the audience engaged. There were eight trivia questions about the city of Greenville throughout the show, and cash prizes were awarded. The event was free to the public, but many in attendance said they would have gladly paid for such a wonderful event.
