Georgiana resident, Seth Allen Glass, 28, died as the result of injuries sustained in an early Sunday morning, single-vehicle crash in Georgiana.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. when the 2021 Dodge Ram Glass was driving failed to halt at a stop sign on Alabama Highway 106 near the 12-mile marker in Georgiana city limits.
ALEA Senior Trooper Kendra McKinney said Glass’s truck left the roadway.
According to Butler County Sheriff’s Deputy Curtis Campbell, the vehicle then struck Pilgrim Travelers Church
“Glass was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” McKinney said.
McKinney stressed the importance of obeying traffic controls, which help to ensure motorist safety.
“Traffic controls have been put in place throughout our Alabama roadways to enforce and ensure the safety of motorists,” McKinney said. “When approaching a posted stop sign, the law states a driver must come to a complete stop before that posted sign or stop light if there is one present. Then, when safe to do so or clear of oncoming traffic, enter into the roadway.
No further information is available as Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
