Alabama is holding its 18th annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax holiday this weekend.
The holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Feb. 24 and ends Feb. 26 at midnight.
Certain severe weather items, such as batteries and battery powered lights, weather radios, flashlights, coolers, and even plastic drop clothes are eligible for purchase during the sales tax holiday.
According to the Alabama Department of Revenue, these eligible items will be tax free this weekend.
Butler County Emergency Management Director Rosie Till reminded everyone at the County Commission meeting Tuesday night to make sure they were prepared for whatever weather emergency might strike our area.
Till also discussed the Safety Coordinator Resolution that was presented to the commission for approval.
“This resolution has to be done whenever a new County Safety Coordinator is appointed,” Till said.
She explained that as the EMA Director, she would assist the Safety Coordinator with all the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Tracy Salter, the Executive Director of the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, has been a big help in getting the word out in the Greenville area.
