Greenville Mayor Dexter McLendon helped the city welcome M. Patrick Trammell as the new CEO at Regional Medical Center at a ribbon cutting last Wednesday morning.

“This hospital is extremely important to our community,” McLendon said.

He told the crowd gathered in front of the cafeteria that when somebody comes to Greenville looking at jobs, the two things they always ask about are the schools and the hospital.

“We’re definitely moving in the right direction. When we interviewed Patrick, everybody was impressed,” McLendon said.

112. Patrick Trammell, a former football player and a graduate of the University of Alabama, quoted briefly from his morning Bible study of Psalm 112. 

Trammell spoke highly of his experiences thus far in Greenville. 

“We live up in Fort Payne now, but I’m renting a house here,” Trammell said. “Nice people make a difference.”

Trammell has an extensive background in health care. His experience dates back to 2002, where he started his career at St. Vincent’s Health Systems right out of college.

He has since gone on to work at several hospitals, both large and small, in and around Alabama.

“I was really attracted to the team here and the engagement with the city, as well as UAB’s involvement,”  Trammell said.

He said he believes that all those things bring together a lot of potential for a much needed community hospital.

“This hospital is a perfect market size to make a good impact,” Trammell said.

Trammell thanked the gathered crowd, which included not only the Mayor, but David Norrell, the director of business development at Regional Medical Center, County Commissioner Allin Whittle, Tracy Salter from the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce and several other notable men and women in Greenville.

McLendon rounded out the event by addressing the group again.

“I’m excited about Patrick and I think 2023 is going to be a great year,” he said.
