Despite the recent upheavals that McKenzie School experienced at the end of the 2021-22 school year, , school administration is working to provide a smooth start for returning students this fall.Principal Miles Brown expressed very few concerns for the 2022-2023 academic year.The only thing that is troubling him now is the upsurge in COVID cases hitting Butler County.

“It could slow down our progress,” Brown said. He doesn’t want any of his teachers or students to suffer from this latest round of the virus.

He and his staff have been working tirelessly to make sure that the McKenzie school system is where it needs to be when school starts back. Eight positions were left open following the close of school. 

While almost all of the vacancies have been filled, Brown said they are still looking for a high school history teacher and a special education teacher.

With interviews still ongoing, Brown said he has no concerns that these positions will not be filled by the time students return.

Butler County Superintendent Joseph Eiland is optimistic about McKenzie’s upcoming year.

“I am confident that staffing at McKenzie School will go smoothly and that competent and highly qualified teachers will be employed,” Eiland said. “The community should be patient as we can’t and won’t just find and hire individuals to fill a slot. We seek out professionals that are highly qualified and a great fit for the staff and community. We want only the best for the students as they are our primary focus.” 

The first day of school is on August 10, 2022.
