Two dollar stores have been robbed at gunpoint in the last two weeks. The Greenville Police Department have contacted CrimeStoppers to help identify the suspect(s).

The first robbery occurred at the Kobb City Dollar General approximately two weeks ago. The mother of the cashier on duty at the time of the robbery said the man came in the store around 2:30 p.m. She said the man held a gun to her daughter’s head during the robbery that occurred in broad daylight. The Butler County Sheriff’s office referred us to the investigator handling the case. The investigator did not return phone call prior to publication time.

On Wednesday, May 18, the Greenville Police Department received a call in reference to an armed robbery that had taken place at the Family Dollar located on Cedar Street. According to the Greenville PD, two suspects entered the store just after 9:30 p.m. Both men had hand guns and demanded money from the register. The suspects quickly left with a small amount of money.

There were no injuries reported.

Officers responded and investigators collected items of evidence. Chief Justin Lovvorn said investigators did interview two people of interest the night of the robbery. No charges have been filed at this time. Investigators are working to process the evidence found and conduct interviews to identify the two suspects.

“We ask anyone who may recognize the individuals or that may have information in this case, please call the police department at 334-382-7461 and ask for an investigator.  You may remain anonymous if you like,” Lovvorn said.

It has not been confirmed if the suspects in the Cedar Street robbery are also responsible for the Kobb City robbery.
