Obituary: Joyce Sport Faison

FAISON, Mrs. Joyce Sport (affectionately known as Nana or Tiny), 78, of Dozier, AL went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2011.
She was born and raised in Dozier, AL. She graduated from Troy State University and moved to Port St. Joe, FL where she was a fourth grade teacher at Port St. Joe Elementary School for 38 years.
In Port St. Joe, she and her husband attended First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Red Hat Society.
She was a loving mother, dedicated teacher, and sincere friend. Five years ago, she moved back to her hometown of Dozier where she attended Dozier United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lamar Faison and her father and mother, L.G. Sport and Cumi K. Sport. She is survived by a son, James Bruce Faison (Jim) and his wife Laurie and a daughter, Brenda Joyce Faison, all of Dozier, AL; three grandchildren, Leslie Faison Cox and her husband Clay and James Parker Faison (Jimbo) all of Panama City, FL and James Kristoffer Dunne (Kris) and his wife Brienne of North Wales, PA; two great grandchildren, Noah Andrew Cox and Grace Taylor Dunne; a sister, Shirley Jean Brooner (Jean) and her husband Clifford E. of Marbury, AL.
Funeral services were held at 11 am Tuesday May 24, 2011 at the Dozier United Methodist Church with Rev. Philip M. Chance officiating. Interment followed in Zion Cemetery in the Leon Community with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
