Greenville High School honored recent graduate and varsity basketball player Dawson Quaye Sarblah by displaying his all-star jersey in the gym for current and future students.
Dawson, who graduated earlier this year, is the first recipient of this honor for the school.
Although Dawson started his senior year amid the pandemic, he continued working hard and giving his all to the team he loved.
Because of his drive and commitment, Dawson managed to achieve a 1,000-career point milestone. He also broke a school record by scoring 24 points against Charles Henderson during a game in early February.
Dawson also had the opportunity to play for the 2020-2021ASWA 5A All-State First Team.
Greenville High School Principal Jamie Howard started the ceremony explaining the significance behind the gesture.
“In honor of Dawson’s contributions to the school, Dawson’s all-star number will be hanging in this gym as a reminder to everyone that the player that wore this jersey was and is the personification of hard work and dedication,” Howard said.
Dawson is very thankful to have his jersey displayed in his former high school.
“This is something that has never happened at this school before. It’s an honor to have my jersey displayed as something that kids can look up to,” Dawson said.
