Greenville City Council adds Juneteenth to federal holidays list

The Greenville City Council approved a resolution authoring Juneteenth to the city policy and procedure manual.
This resolution would allow the city to expand its list of federal holidays to include Juneteenth, allow full-time city employees paid holiday leave, and add the holiday to the city policy and procedure manual.
Additionally, the council approved a resolution authorizing the city to enter a lease agreement with the Armory Commission of Alabama for a property on Pineapple Highway.
As a result of this, the property will be converted into a dog park.
Regarding the rest of the meeting, the city council
- Approved a $3,760 budgeted expenditure for restoration and repair to Pioneer Cemetery
- Authorized a $1,732 expenditure to repair and replace the flippers on garbage truck forty-two
- Approved a $1,131 budgeted expenditure for two tires, mount, balance, and disposal for fire engine forty-two
- Approved a $7,762 budgeted expenditure for a new metal roof on the YMCA pool house
