The Georgiana community is actively searching for a missing golden retriever following a vehicle accident last weekend.
A red Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on Hwy 55 around 9:30 p.m. when the vehicle crossed over the center line striking a white Mercedes Benz SUV traveling southbound on the way to Destin.
The driver of the Equinox was taken by ambulance to Baptist South with suspected serious injuries. The occupants of the Mercedes SUV sustained no injuries except the loss of their family dog.
Cleo, the family’s golden retriever, ran off into the woods following the accident and is still missing. Cleo was last seen approximately a half mile south of the Family Dollar on the right side of the road.
The Georgiana Police Department are actively patrolling the area where Cleo was last seen and has requested the help of the public to locate Cleo and return her to her family.
The family is offering a reward of $2,000 for her return according to Lost and Found Animals in Butler County, Alabama Facebook page. If you see Cleo, please contact the non-emergency number to the Georgiana Police Department at 334-376-2801.
