Locals may have driven by and noticed the whimsical tire coffee cups adorning the sidewalk on the main street in Luverne and thought about going into the coffee shop.
Living Water Coffee House is more than just your average coffee shop serving up fuel for the soul as well as the body.
Beth Rogers is a native of Bullock county but moved to Luverne, 28 years ago when she married Randy Rogers, a native of Crenshaw County.
Randy proposed by making Beth a deal of a lifetime. He told her once their children were married and out on their own, they would buy motorcycles and travel the country.
“How could I pass up a deal like that,” Beth said while chuckling.
In 2007, Beth had a bike and learned to drive it. The Rogers became part of other bike groups and another motorcycle ministry. When that ministry dissolved, friends convinced the Rogers that they needed to start their own ministry. That is exactly what they did.
The ministry started holding service one night a week, until the building on Main street became available.
Everything fell together for Living Water Coffee House to come to life. The Rogers received a grant to help purchase specialty coffee machines and help cover other expenses.
The Rogers ministry has bible study at the coffee house on Tuesday and Saturday nights. Non-denominational church is also held on Sunday night in person and streamed live on Facebook. A women’s group is held on Monday nights for women to talk about things that they may need to express in a safe and private environment.
One Saturday night a month is family game night at the coffee house. People from the community bring in covered dishes and everyone eats and plays dominoes, board and card games. All ages are invited.
Beth welcomes everyone with a smile and open arms.
“We just want to get people in here. We do not want anyone to feel threatened. We want people to feel comfortable here” Beth said.
Couches and chairs are set up for customers to relax and sip coffee. Conversation and WIFI are free as well as books and magazines.
Living Water serves hot and cold coffee, teas, and ice-cold soft drinks, as well as snack options. Some of the new lunch items include delicious homemade pimento cheese, Hawaiian bread sliders and bacon addict burgers.
If coffee is what you crave, they have all kinds of add-ins to make your drink as unique as you are: chocolate chips, flavored syrups, whipped topping, chocolate, caramel and strawberry syrups, and white chocolate sauce. And for those who are watching their sugar intake, they have some sugar-free options available as well.
Beth Rogers and her friend, Candy Hardin, are constantly experimenting with new drink ideas. They currently have a school competition going on; each school has a unique drink: Tiger Tail, the Bulldog Bite, the Squadron Contrail, and the Cougar Roar.
The Living Water Coffee Shop features local artists crafts and works for sale. Paintings by local artists available for purchase can be seen throughout the coffee house. Natural soaps and lotions made with local goats milk, and even coffee scrubs are available.

The coffee house is open every morning except Thursday, from 7 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.
