This version has been corrected to reflect that Jones is still in jail. We apologize for the error and are happy to set the record straight.
Details have emerged in the murder case of a Dozier man that occurred on Jan. 15.
Savion Jamall Jones is accused of the shooting death of Xavius Young.
Court records show from the deposition that Jones told investigators that Young owed him a pit bull puppy.
Jones stated that he had given Young $200 and that Young never gave him the puppy so he went to 18406 Andalusia Highway in Dozier to get his money back.
The accused said that Young pulled a gun on him.
Jones then allegedly took the gun away from him and shot seven times striking the victim in the back two times.
Jones appeared in court on Jan. 19.
Bond was set at $500,000 and Jones was not allowed to be released from the Crenshaw County Jail until after Young’s funeral.
Jones is still in jail.
