The Butler County Humane Society needs your help to “undecorate” their Christmas tree this holiday season.
Visit the Shell Depot by Interstate 65, and choose three ornaments from the tree for a $5 donation (or donation amount of your choice). “Help us have an empty tree by December 25th,” said Annie Crenshaw of the BCHS.
The ornaments range from “dimestore” type to family antiques of china, brass, wood, paper, plastic, fabric, and glass.
“In this crisis year with Covid-19 stressing the world, your financial contributions mean more than ever,” she said. “Your generous heart can help pay for adoptable pets’ vaccinations, food, shelter, medical needs, and the crucial cost of spaying and neutering.
“Spay/neuter is the alternative to euthanasia. Help us save more animals’ lives and control the over-population of unwanted and abandoned pets in Butler County,” she said. “Did you know that female puppies and kittens can begin reproducing at four to five months of age? Really! Let’s spay and neuter all pets before that first litter is on the way.”
Crenshaw said the Butler County Humane Society receives no government or public funding of any kind. Our operating funds come entirely from donations from individuals and businesses, and from fund-raising events – which were severely affected by COVID-19.
“We need your continuing care and support in this Christmas season of giving and caring,” he said. “Pets should not be disposable! Won’t you please help?”
The Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and your contribution is tax-deductible. Send donations to P. O. Box 264, Greenville, Alabama 36037. Questions? Call Kimberly Matthews, (334) 437-2150.
