It’s been a while since gospel fest was last celebrated in the Luverne, but after a 20-year hiatus it will return to the tri-county area.

On Friday, Sept. 26 people of faith from Monroeville, Greenville, McKenzie, Luverne and many more towns will come together for a day of worship and praise.

The outdoor event will feature 15-20 speakers, ranging from cancer survivors to veterans of war.

The event’s rebirth can be attributed to Ray Richburg, Music Minister at Cornerstone Church in Luverne. Richburg said the decision to hold the event was something that had been weighing heavily on his mind.

“I just think, with all the craziness happening in the world right now, the Lord is ready for people to get their mind back on him,” Richburg said. “We should consider this event a revival. We wanted to get it our there that God is still on the throne and blessing people.”

The event will be held at E.L. Turner Park in Luverne, starting at 12 PM that Friday. Admission is free.

“We’re going to worship until we can’t worship anymore,” Richburg said.
