New probate judge appointed

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey this week appointed Ann Steiner Gregory as Butler County’s new probate judge.
“I am very excited about the new position and serving the people,” stated Judge Gregory.
The community welcomed her with opened arms and praise as she was sworn in the morning of Sept. 1,2020.
Before becoming the new Probate Judge she worked at the Community Neighbor Bank for 16 years in Greenville.
She was born and raised in Greenville, Alabama. She attended Greenville High School and received her Bachelors in Business Administration at Huntingdon College.
She is also married to Jason Gregory and they have three kids ages 15, 12, and 7.
Judge Steiner-Gregory considers herself to be of “high integrity, relatable, honest, trustworthy and open-minded to new ideas.”
Governor Kay Ivey appointment letter mentioned that she knows Judge Gregory has made honesty and integrity a priority in Administration, “I know that you will embody these two virtues while serving the people of Alabama.”
She also stated that she is confident Judge Gregory “will render valuable service.”
Her plans as the new Judge is to take on “the biggest task” at the moment, which is the upcoming election, improve efficiency and getting comfortable with the operations.
She also mentioned that one of her long term goals is for the Probate Office to have a more online presence as far as communicating and news.
Steiner-Gregory replaces Probate Judge Steve Norman, who retired on Aug. 31.
Norman was the probate judge for more than 17 years.
