LaRoy Bodiford, of Luverne, a junior music education major at Troy University, was recognized recently at the 2009 Troy Jazz Ensemble I as the Most Outstanding Jazz Soloist at the College Jazz Hall of Fame Festival held recently in Birmingham.

The University Jazz Ensemble I was selected as the Most Outstanding College Jazz Band and will be permanently recognized with a plaque at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame as the “Band of Distinction”.

The Troy University Jazz Chamber Ensemble was selected as the Most Outstanding College Jazz Combo, and at that time Bodiford received his recognition as the Most Outstanding Jazz Soloist.

Bodiford is a graduate of Luverne High School and played saxophone in the LHS Marching band.
