The Luverne Police Department assisted the Drug Enforcement Agency with several arrests on Thursday, according to LPD assistant chief Cpt. Mason Adcock.

On Thursday, March 5, DEA agents with assistance from the Luverne Police Dept. executed a search warrant at a residence on Darien Church Rd. in Luverne at around 7 a.m.

According to Adcock, approximately 2 pounds of suspected marijuana, 0.5 kilogram of suspected cocaine and 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine were seized. 4 rifles and a handgun were also seized.

Of the items seized, it is believed that one of the rifles had been reported stolen.

Luverne resident Kelvin Lamar Jones, 40, was arrested in connection with the search warrant. He was charged with receiving stolen property, 2^nd degree, felon in possession of a firearm, trafficking in cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, 1^st degree and placed in the Crenshaw County Jail.

Adcock went on to state that at approximately the same time on Thursday the LPD, with assistance from DEA agents, executed an arrest warrant on Roy Beall Dr. in Luverne for distribution of a controlled substance.

Luverne resident Marquise Lamond Randle, 45, was arrested without incident and transported to the Crenshaw County Jail.

Randle was previously arrested on Feb. 20 for assault, 1^st degree, two counts of kidnapping, 1^st degree, and two counts of attempted murder.
