July has been a busy month for the Greenville City Council.

In addition to approving a tax abatement for Ozark Logistics for a $7 million capital investment, a sales tax incentive for Roses Express, which will move into the soon-to-be vacant Fred’s building and purchasing 75 acres and large building next to Sherling Lake Park & Campground, several expenditures were approved.

During the  first meeting of the month, the council OK’d the following expenditures:

• $3,960 to Physio Control for a budgeted, annual preventative maintenance contract.
• $4,061.01 to Southern Petroleum Systems for a fuel system upgrade at the Mac Crenshaw Memorial Airport.
• $1,106.94 to Southern Petroleum Systems to repair an inlet leak on a fuel tank.
• $1,291.52 to Southland for repairs to limb truck No. 69, a 2006 International 4300.
• $3,205 to Atlantic Signal for five ultimate protection helmets for the Greenville Police Department’s Special Response Team. The funds will be paid out of the city’s Capital Improvement Fund.

Last week, the council also approved the city’s third quarter financial reports – dated April 1, 2019, through June 30, 2019, for fiscal year 2018-19 as well as the following:

• $1,788.56 to Fatboys Towing & Repair for labor and repairs to limb truck No. 69.
• $2,606.86 to Greenville Tire Company for transmission parts and labor for truck No. 84, which is a 2006 Ford F-250.
• $9,599 to Greenville Equipment Center for an Exmark Lazer 60-inch cut, zero turn lawn mower. The budgeted item will be paid out of the Capital Improvement Fund.
• $4,500 to Plantation Tree Company for 30 bald cypress trees. It’s a budgeted expense.
