According to officials with Crenshaw County Schools, Tuesday will be a regular school day as Hurricane Michael approaches, but all after-school activities are cancelled.
However, schools will be closed on Wednesday and there will be no after-school activities as Michael is expected to make landfall.
Crenshaw County is currently under a Tropical Storm Watch until 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Gov. Kay Ivey issued a State of Emergency early Monday afternoon, shortly after warnings were issued.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Michael could produce three life-threatening hazards along portions of the northeastern Gulf Coast: storm surge, heavy rainfall and hurricane-force winds, with storm surge and hurricane watches in effect. Residents in these areas should follow advice given by local officials.
Additional information on Hurricane Michael will be published as it made available.
