The Bible tells us if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can move mountains.

The seed for The Faith Project was planted in December of 2015, on a K-5 school field trip to The Santa Express.  Carol Baker’s daughter Lillian Faith waited her turn to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what she wanted for Christmas. 

“I asked Faith, ‘What did you tell Santa you wanted for Christmas?’” Baker says.  The little girl replied, “I told Santa that I wanted blankets for the homeless.’”

And so it began. Youngsters Anna Grace and Lillian Faith Baker and their cousin, Charlotte Kate Anderson, joined forces as “three sisters in Christ” to make a difference in their community and beyond with the help of their moms Carol and Staci. 

And those blankets came pouring in from the two families’ home churches, by word of mouth and via social media. 

“These kids have the love of Christ in them,” says Baker. “We loaded up new blankets and stuffed animals to deliver to two different shelters in Montgomery.  What a blessing that was for us!”

In 2016, blankets, Bibles, coats, and much more were delivered to three shelters in Montgomery as well as to W.O. Parmer Elementary School, Georgiana School, McKenzie School,  area nursing homes, Gatlinburg fire victims, and to numerous others in need. They also held a food drive for Saint Thomas Episcopal Church Food Basket at their school, Fort Dale Academy.

The three cousins are continuing their project in 2017. They have already delivered blankets to the Bright Beginnings Pre-K4 classes in Butler County and sent supplies to the Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas.

And they would love the opportunity to share about their mission with those willing to give their time and attention, says Anderson.

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’ What our girls are doing is what Christ would have us all do for our fellow human beings.”

This year, new blankets, coloring books/crayons and books and Bibles are all needed, says Baker. Gently used coats are also requested for donation.   

“Businesses, we need your help, too.  Call us to pick up your monetary donation. Every dollar helps and it all adds up,” Baker adds.
