Doris Smith Greer

Doris Smith Greer, a former resident of Selma and a native of her beloved Pine Apple, Ala., passed away on May 24, 2017. She was born on Aug. 26, 1924 at the old plantation home near Pine Apple.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Greer; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Alexander Smith Jr. (Louise Melton); two brothers, Robert A. Smith III and Henry Edward Smith; and one sister, Louise Smith Dickson.

She is survived by two nieces, Louise Dickson Harmon (John Thomas) of Pine Apple, Ala., and Martha Dickson Curlee (David) of Opelika, Ala.; one nephew, Robert Dickson of Atlanta; one great-niece Amy Harmon Terry (Edward) of Fairhope, Ala.; one great nephew, John Wesley Harmon of Montgomery, Ala.; great-great-nephews Collins M. Terry and Alexander Smith Terry and great-great niece Miller Louise Terry, all of Fairhope, Ala.

A graveside service was held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Pine Apple, Ala., with Reverend George Sedberry officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
