Tuesday afternoon, the Bulldog baseball team faced the Charles Henderson Trojans for the first time this season and unfortunately, suffered a loss of 6-2.
The Trojans scored in the top of the first inning, but the Bulldogs were quick to recover on offense, when sophomore Greyson Layton scored for Brantley.
Charles Henderson came back again in the top of the second, when they scored to make the score 2-1.
Junior center-fielder Adrian Person Jr says that Brantley’s performance in the field was solid. “Our defense wasn’t the biggest problem of the night.” Person says. “We made some bad decisions, but we really need to swinging the bat better.”
The score carried as 2-1 until the bottom of the fourth, when Person was sent to home plate by a double from freshman and third baseman, Bryce Dunn.
However, even with the score tied at 2-2, the Bulldogs could not hold off the Trojans in the top of the seventh inning, when Charles Henderson had four runs. The final score of the game was 6-2.
Junior Nathan Renfroe also says that the team could improve on their approach at the plate.
“The little stuff is what we need to work on more than anything.” Renfroe says. “We played six great innings, but all it took was that one bad inning to beat us.”
The Brantley baseball team will face Pleasant Home Thursday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m.
