The Highland Home Flying Squadron hosted the Georgiana Panthers on Monday night, resulting in loses for both games.

The Lady Squadron and Lady Panthers had a very close game, losing 35-33.

The Lady Squadron has improved much since the last time they competed against Georgiana.

HHS head coach, Melinda Avant says, “Shots didn’t really fall, but we worked well on defense. Offense is still lacking, but we’re really working hard on shooting.”

The top scorer for Monday night was sophomore Jala Merriweather and following behind was senior Allera June.

The Flying Squadron had a tough match against the Georgiana Panthers, falling 112-52.

Leading the team in points was sophomore Daniel Phillips and trailing behind was senior Drick Bell.

Tuesday night, Highland Home hosted a game against Loveless Academic Magnet Program (LAMP) High School and also took time to honor the Squadron seniors.

The last home game for the season ended in a loss for Highland Home.

“Losing so many seniors will put an impact on us next year, but a lot of our starters are young so picking up from where we left off shouldn’t be an issue,” said boys varsity basketball coach Shawn Sellers.

HHS will travel to Luverne High School on Friday to compete against the LHS Tigers and to Georgiana the following week for the area tournament.
