Downed trees, power lines leave roads impassable

An outbreak of severe weather early Saturday morning has downed trees and power lines across the Butler County area, leaving certain roads impassable.
According to Butler County EMA director Shirley Sandy, as many as eight roads remain impeded Saturday morning. The county road department reports that Highway 55 at Garland Road, Patrick Road, Horse Farm Road, Dilly Hill Road, Shoals Road/Garland Baptist Church Road, 1300 Block Road, Shoals Road south of 106 and County Road 8 are all considered impassable at this time.
Additionally, trees are also reported down on Elizabeth Street in McKenzie, with possible trees on houses on the same street. McKenzie mayor Lester Odom is currently assessing the situation.
County Road 59 and Highway 106 are also considered impassable at this time.
