Authorities are searching for three suspects following an odd armed robbery that occurred on Highway 50 Wednesday morning in broad daylight.
Butler County sheriff Kenny Harden said that the sheriff’s office received a call a little after 11 a.m. Wednesday morning notifying them that an elderly woman had been robbed at gunpoint on Highway 50 at a location near Pigeon Creek Bridge.
““We responded to the call out there, and what happened was that she was traveling on Highway 50 when the people in front of her slammed on brakes,” Harden said.
“She had to slide to keep from hitting them, and when she got stopped three black males jumped out with guns and robbed her.”
She was robbed of an undisclosed amount of her personal property, and the three suspects fled in a small gray or silver-colored car.
The woman, shaken up but otherwise unharmed, was sent to the hospital nonetheless following the incident for a customary checkup.
Harden said that there didn’t appear to be a connection between the suspects and the victim, though they are still investigating the case.
“We’re asking that if anyone has any information to contact the Butler County Sheriff’s Office,” Harden continued.
“Hopefully someone out there in that area has seen the vehicle and can give us a better description of it. They might even know who did it.”
