The Brantley High School Lady Bulldogs continue to blow through their season with top scores in their games.

In a recent matchup with the Highland Home School Lady Squadron, the Lady Bulldogs dominated with a final score of 58-19.

Leading way for Brantley was Kassidy Wilcox with 11 points. Following close behind was Olivia Jones with 10 points and Passion Person with 10 points, which brought the girls’ record to 11-4 for regular season and 2-0 in area.

Taking on the McKenzie School Lady Tigers Tuesday night also proved to be of ease for the Lady Bulldogs as they rose victorious at 59-12.

“I hadn’t seen McKenzie all year and I didn’t know what to expect,” said BHS Varsity Girls Coach Roland Jones.

“We got to play everyone, and the subs got to play mainly for an entire half. So that will be good for us down the road to get some playing experience.”

Leading the way for Brantley was Passion Person with 15 points, followed close behind by Emory Bush with 14 points and Elizabeth Bush with 10 points.

The Lady Bulldogs travelled to Red Level last night and won 57-28. This now brings the Lady Bulldogs to a season record of 13-4 and makes them 4-0 in area.

The Bulldogs will rematch against the Georgiana Panthers tonight at Georgiana.

“We’ve just got to change up some things and mix it up so we can try to keep them confused,” Jones said.

In their last match against the Lady Panthers, the Lady Bulldogs found themselves evenly matched as they barely took home a 36-35 victory.

Coach Jones says that there is no specific thing the team will be working on before their game with the Panthers, but they will continue to work on everything to make sure they are up to par.

“Our biggest opponent will be Georgiana, but we’re just trying to take it one step at a time to hopefully host the Area Tournament,” Jones said.

“We’re just going to try to do what we do and get better at what we do.”

The BHS Bulldogs have also had recent success in their games over Highland Home and McKenzie, but did not fair as well against the Georgiana Panthers last week. The time for a rematch approaches as the Bulldogs and Panthers meet back up on the court tonight, however.

“We lost 65-40 in that game. They are a really good basketball team, and we know that going in,” said BHS Varsity Boys Coach Andre Parks.

“I’m anxious to see how the guys are going to play on the road against a really good opponent for this second round. Georgiana is probably the toughest team on our schedule this year, but we’re still going to go over there to compete and give them a game.”

Taking down the McKenzie Tigers at 67-23 Tuesday night definitely helped boost the morale of the team and also gained the Bulldogs another area win.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Mick Beverly with 23 points and eight rebounds followed by Parker Driggers with 19 points and six rebounds and Adrian Person, Jr., with 10 points.

“The thing I was most proud of was that we came in at halftime with a lead. During the season most of the time when we’ve had a lead we haven’t had that killer instinct to put it away when we have the lead,” Parks said.

“I was really proud of the fact that we were ahead at halftime and we came out playing with the same intensity in the third and fourth quarters that we did at the beginning of the game.”

The Bulldogs currently hold a record of 8-8 for regular season and 2-2 for area.
